i checked the net and found this (SMART UTILITY) i scanned my hd and here are the result: 1. status is not OS-specific; if you had checked the drive's "Info" panel in Disk Utility a week ago, its status would have been reported as failing (or near failing) then as Improper daisy-chaining can lead to loss in power or data connection that can corrupt drive contents, causing it to either not mount, or suddenly eject. The first option for testing your drive is to check its S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom of the window (click image for larger view).
