Quick note: I had to add DpvSetup.exe from C:/WINDOWS/system32 via Control Panel's Add Program on my XP machine. I tried the regedit trick for audio whereby you trick windows into thinking it's service pack 2 (I'm on service pack 3, XP). I came into my senses and tried using the realtek keyword instead of the error I got from my computer that took me so long to find the fix. I updated all the drivers for my laptop from the manufacturers site but to no avail.
